Otelul Galati v Manchester United: Red Devils to get first Champions League win

Posted 17th October 2011

Manchester United face a must win game when they take on Otelul Galati away in the Champions League on Tuesday night. After drawing their first two games in the group, United have to take all three points from this trip to stay in control of their group.

They are firm favourites to get the win over the Romanian champions and Unibet offer United at 2/11 in the match odds. Otelul Galati are priced at 14/1 for victory while a draw is offered at 6/1.

After their smooth opening to the season, things have got a little bumpy for United over the last few weeks. Their rivals Manchester City went ahead of them in the Premier League on Saturday after United drew 1-1 with Liverpool at Anfield. The Red Devils did not look great on the day and were only rescued thanks to a Javier Hernandez header after going a goal down. Eyebrows were also raised over Sir. Alex Ferguson's team selection after he decided to leave out Wayne Rooney and Nani from the starting line-up. One reason that could be given is that they were rested for this crucial Champions League clash midweek.

United have taken two points from their first two games in the group after drawing away to Benfica and at home to Basel. The Basel match nearly ended in embarrassment for United after the Swiss side were 3-2 up with just a few minutes. United, however, were saved from defeat thanks to an Ashley Young header. The result though has opened up the group for Benfica and Basel and United cannot be assured of qualifying from first place anymore.

Otelul Galati have lost both their games in this group already, losing 2-1 away to Basel and then suffering a 1-0 defeat to Benfica last time out. They gave a good account in both games but it is hard to see them taking anything from United.

Galati are currently ninth in the Romanian domestic league after taking 12 points from 10 games. They have won just once in their last six games in the league, losing three and drawing two.

In the betting for Tuesday night, United don't offer much value in the match odds so back them in the halftime/fulltime market at 8/15 with Unibet. Those players left out of the side against Liverpool are expected to return to make a very strong line-up for United. With Rooney, Nani and Hernandez all back in the side, we could see a few goals from United and over 3.5 goals at 7/5 seems like a good bet.

Tip #1: Back Manchester United/Manchester United in the halftime/fulltime market at 8/15 with Unibet.

Tip #2: Back Over 3.5 goals at 7/5 with Unibet.
